FEBRUARY 2016

There are lots of starlings around at the moment and often we have noisy groups of them chattering away in the trees on the edge of our garden. This is a good time of year to witness at dusk the wonder of the starling murmurations at one of the local reserves down on the Somerset Levels.

There is a buzzard that lives in a nearby field and I often see it perched at the top of a tree or soaring overhead and calling it’s plaintive mewing cry, whilst down below a trio of roe deer blend into the leafless hedgerow before moving swiftly and gracefully away.
